Hey Guys! It's still pretty cold in NYC. It looks like Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, so we're looking at more weeks of cold weather. I never will forget when I moved to NYC and realized they had they're own ground hog, that lived in Staten Island. I thought typical NY, they need they're own ground hog lol. Also, I think Staten Island Chuck has biten a mayor, and always contradicts Punxsutawney Phil. So I like to go with Phil, I think he's a bit more reliable lol.
Since the cold weather likely won't be coming to a stop anytime soon, I decided to share a post with my newest coat. I got this coat for Christmas and found it at a vintage shop on the Lower East Side. I'm not sure if it's fur or faux, but it is vintage so no animal died recently for it. I'm not sure how I feel about fur yet, so the fact this coat is vintage, allows me to still not be sure if I support real fur or not.
The newest items in this outfit are my coat and the sweater dress I got from Zara. The dress was on sale (Zara has the best sale every January and July). It was only $22 bucks, so me being me, I bought 2. You'll see the other dress later on this month.
I styled the blue version of this dress with the furry coat to prove a point. Just like leather/faux leather, fur is a fabric that helps you stay warm in the winter. I know typically some would say it's to much to wear a fur to work, but I disagreed. The coats are designed to keep you warm, and you shouldn't hide how fly/stylish you are at the office. It's cold and fur/fuax fur is super warm, so wear it to work and keep the cold out. The only time I would caution wearing a fur is if you're going to a meeting with external or internal people that you do not know. I would hate for you to offend someone, however, if you are the client in the meeting wear whatever you want, after all you're paying them.
I styled this look in 3 different ways, so you'll be seeing this dress styled a couple different ways over the next few days.
With that said, the above look is appropriate for a conservative, business casual and casual office. The next 2 variations are likely not appropriate for a conservative office setting.
